Painting, and thinking as a painter-- is the key element in all my ART. Painting takes me down the rabbit hole, and through the looking glass to my own fantasy world. All my art, even the sculptures are derived from painting principles. My palette is primary colors and I almost never use pure black. I love the color RED best and even created a puppet called "Mr. RED" for my children's classes. I think more artists should use red to really add music to the image and give it a louder voice!

I want my colors to scream the message to the viewer! I paint fast and furiously with energetic bold strokes using the biggest brushes I can hold in my small hands. A work called HOT JAZZ needs to feel as hot as it can. Another work called COOL BLUES should make the viewer feel cool and bluesey!

I love to paint alone, in a crowd, outside or indoors, or in a workshop with other people. I teach classes and take classes from the best painters I can afford to get all the painting time in that I possibly can! I paint as if no one is watching and listen to music to suite the mood of the piece. Sometimes the music can even change the flow of the work. I paint at least one canvas a week and sell them as fast as I can. There's always a new subject on the horizon--and the world is my stage. I have been known to go hundreds of miles to find the right view.

I take hundreds of photgraphs of a subject and refuse to give up my 35 mm camera. I am not opposed to technology, but why should I trade in a piece of equipment which still serves me well? Artists do not have to be "TECH GEEKS".
